#THE BEFORE , AUGUST, 1985.
HE SEEMED TO HAVE IT ALL, or near enough; as much as he could have, anyways. the perfect girl, a semi - successful band. but the town of hill valley never seemed big enough, HIS FAMILY TOO SMALL FOR THE LIFE HE DESIRED. he yearned to get away, to escape the mundaneity, aching to make it big. he'd give anything to leave + take jennifer with him, ready for the big time.
#THE DURING , OCTOBER, 1985.
THEY NEVER EXPECTED IT TO HAPPEN. hill valley was a town where nothing happened, dubbed 'a nice place to live' on the welcome sign. it was almost an omen, bait for the hill valley slasher, THE ONE WHO CHANGED IT ALL. douglas needles went first, his body found on the side of the road, his head found 6 feet further down. panic set in, everyone sleeping with a weapon nearby, some people even daring to move away. they got out just in time, the slasher striking again 12 days later. the macauley triplets went next, ALL THREE OF THEM AT ONCE, axe wounds littering their bodies. they were nearly unrecognizable when the police found them. only three days later, principal strickland was found, his throat slit at his desk, blood all over his paperwork. NO ONE WAS SAFE, the small town erupting into sheer chaos. goldie wilson's speeches about resilience did little to calm everyone's anxieties, everyone dreading the next body. no one would ache more than marty when it was found. jennifer parker was found on october 25th, her body hanging from the clock tower. HE WAS FOREVER CHANGED, readying himself to take on the slasher himself, demanding vengeance. and he got it. a showdown with the slasher only a day later, teaming up with doc brown to take him down. they'd rigged it all up, luring him to the clock tower, a fortuitous lightning strike being his downfall. marty would escape with only a few injuries, but he'd never be himself again. . .

#THE AFTER , JUNE, 1986.
THE MCFLY'S WOULD MOVE AWAY, every inch of hill valley too much of a reminder, all filled with hurt + pain. george's job would take them to bakersfield, nowhere near as small as the town they'd left behind. here they'd start again, LEAVING THEIR OLD LIVES BEHIND, but marty would never be able to forget hill valley, forget everyone he'd lost, forget everything. his family settled into a sense of normalcy, **dave switching to a new burger king branch, ** linda starting work as a hairdresser, lorraine having the chance to visit joey more often. they were bordering on happy, SO CLOSE TO THE BEFORE, but marty would never be able to escape it all, stuck forever in the purgatory between the during + the after
